Numismatic stories and slide presentations

"YES, VIRGINIA, There Is Very Definitely A SANTA CLAUS IN NUMISMATICS" takes a detailed look at the Santa vignettes in the Durand Collection, and their place in the development of the Secular Santa during America's 19th Century.

The examination of the vignettes leads to a quick history of the Christmas Holiday and the many personas of Santa. As Moore's poem and Nash's images solidified the standardization of "Santa", the process is revealed in the miniature art of the vignette as they reflect the mores of the times.

There is nothing in here to scare the children, but the young probably would not understand the historical issues. This is a 30-minute Keynote (Apple) slide show, seen here broken up (ridiculous so) into smaller PDF segments.

You have multiple options for viewing: THE FILE-SIZE LIMITATIONS OF GO-DADDY FORCE THE BREAKUP INTO THESE SMALL BITS. SERIOUS VIEWERS NEED TO CONTACT ME FOR A DISC VERSION!

1) Watch the complete presentation as a .PDF file by clicking on the buttons. Et cetera, et cetera...

2) If you have Apple Keynote and want to watch with all the transition effects, send me an email, and I'll send you a link to my cloud to view it; or a Keynote disc.

3) If you are a coin club and want to use this as your presentation, email me at r.b.korver@icloud.com. I'll send you a .pdf version, a PowerPoint export, or access to the Keynote version; in most cases, I can telephone in to your meeting if you wish. Or travel for local shows.

4) Working on loading Keynote here -- but no success yet! Tech support says it won't happen. We'll see...
