Numismatic stories and slide presentations
“WILLIAM HOLMS DILLISTIN; Numismatist, Historian, Banker, Citizen.” (40 minutes) William Holms Dillistin spent his lifetime in banking, but his avocation was collecting currency — especially the Obsoletes of New Jersey and New York. And specializing in the notes and banks of Paterson, NJ — coincidentally the town across the river from where I grew up. Dillistin was also involved in the search for Audubon’s missing grouse vignette. While detailing much of Dillistin’s life, I also include a fair bit about ME —and the coincidences and influences of two neighbors who never met, and two numismatists who did.
