“ASHER B. DURAND'S Musidora, OR, The Story of the Near-Clergyman's Scopophiliatic Fantasy" (30 minutes) This story starts with my sight-unseen auction bid for a print by A.B. Durand, which turned out to be one of the seminal works of American engraving art. The story of Musidora, once I educated myself, is far more gender-oriented than any artistic rending could ever be! This is a story about careers, artistic inspiration, the church, and the book business -- and that all happened long before Durand became involved! Not to mention fine art, movies, and music. Funny things happen when you raise your bidder paddle!
