“American Trades on Obsolete Currency: SHEEP SHEARING” (14 minutes) is the first of a new series examining 18th Century trades in America as presented through Obsolete vignettes. Shearing is a very specialized profession — a required intermediate step between shepherds and tailors! Shear too close, and you hurt the sheep; shear too long, and you waste inventory. This is a worldwide profession, but the American vignettes depict some amazingly docile sheep that the ‘Great Roarin’ Dunn’ would hardly recognize.
